Tinke: Quantifying Your Wellness
A key indicator of overall health is your cardiovascular wellness. When you don’t have good cardiovascular wellness, you may experience symptoms such as tiredness, inability to focus, and poor muscle recovery after a workout. There are many apps available that measure your heart rate, but that is only one component of your cardiovascular wellness. In addition to heart rate, you need to understand your blood oxygen levels and your respiratory rate.
Singapore based start up Zensorium launched it’s first product Tinké which measures all these indicators, resulting in a more accurate measurement of your total cardiovascular health. In addition, the Tinké also measures heart rate variability, which is a key indicator for stress levels.
Tinké is a tiny device that connects to your iPhone. By placing your finger on the device, optical sensors detect skin blood volume changes to measure your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, respiratory rate, and heart rate variability. Once a measurement is complete, Tinké takes all the data and quantifies it through giving a score called a Vita Index. The Vita Index is a personalized score unique to Tinké that instantly lets you interpret your cardiovascular health over time. In addition, there is a Zen Index which is designed to help you understand and quantify your stress levels over time.
The device requires use of a free app that allows you to view your data over time. As well, if you want to socialize your data, you can add friends, family, or event health care providers so they can see your progress and cardiovascular fitness.
I haven’t personally tried this device. But, I’m considering getting one. As a runner, this would be great data to have. Have you tried it? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
